Biography
Andrey Ostapenko is one of bright representatives of Ukrainian guitar school, a Laureate of International Competition, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Soloist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
He has got his musical education in the Glier Kiev State Musical School
(class of teachers Filipov and Myhaylenko), Tchaikovsky Kiev
State Conservatory (class of Associate Professor Myhaylenko). During
teaching years, he began active concert activity, appearing in Ukraine
and abroad. Since 1993 Andrey Ostapenko has been an artist of the
National Philharmonic of Ukraine. At first he worked in composition of a
quartet, and since 1995, he has been a soloist-guitarist of
Philharmonic. In 2001, he continued his education and improvement of
performing skills at the Francisco Tarrega International Academy of
Guitar with outstanding maestros Paolo Pegoraro and Stefano Viola
(Italy). In 2003, after leaving the graduate school of the Tchaikovsky
National Musical Academy, he began pedagogical activity for the Academy.
Presently Andrey Ostapenko combines concert, pedagogical, and public
activity successfully. His name is well known in Ukraine and abroad.
The repertoire of musician consists of works of composers of different
epochs and styles: Bach, Scarlatti, Sors, Giuliani, Lenjani,
Moreno-Torroba, Paganini, Albeniz, Turina, Rodrigo, Stetsyun, and
Zolkin. He gives many concerts, often appears with symphonic and chamber
orchestras of Ukraine.
Andrey Ostapenko is in command of all possibilities of modern guitar
performance. His manner is characterized by organic combination of
masterly technique and presentment of all delicacies of sound palette.
Musical interpretations of Andrey Ostapenko are always rich in content,
stylistically accomplished and brightly individual. He belongs to the
cohort of musicians, which work hard to perfect their skills. He
constantly extends the scopes of the professional activity, aspires to
establishing of international communications with the prominent
musicians of world in the field of guitar performance.
Andriy Ostapenko is a participant of various guitar festivals and
forums, juryman for international and national competitions. He is known
as the first performer of new original works written by Ukrainian
composers for the guitar. These pieces are successfully presented him at
the festivals of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine. He always
includes works of the Ukrainian composers to programs of his foreign
tours (Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Great Britain).
Since 2004, Andriy Ostapenko has been the author and one of organizers
of the annual international festival of guitar music in Kiev. Within the
framework of this festival, an International Competition of Guitarists
in Ukraine was founded and conducted in 2007. It was acknowledged as one
of the best artistic events of the year.
